 Wound Treatment / Wound Management

ColActive® Plus is a patented, collagen matrix, advanced wound care dressing developed by Covalon Technologies Limited – leaders in innovative wound management.

Manufactured in the U.S.A., ColActive® Plus collagen matrix dressing with or without silver is used by hospitals around the world for acute and chronic wound applications. ColActive® Plus is clinically proven and FDA cleared.

Benefits:

  • Restarts the healing process fast.
  • Absorbs up to 40 times its weight in wound drainage, while still maintaining an optimal moisture balance for wound closure, making it an excellent choice for heavily exudating wounds.
  • Uses up to 60% denatured collagen making it more like native tissue than any other known collagen dressing.
  • Reduces infection risk by controlling bio-burden (ColActive® Plus Ag).
  • Easy to use and is highly conformable and patient friendly.

How does it work?

  • Targets and deactivates excess MMPs (the enzymes that degrade proteins) in two ways to create a suitable environment for wound healing;
  • The only product known to permanently deactivate excess MMP activity;
  • Contains alginate and CMC to optimize moisture management;
  • Controls bio-burden with ionic silver, a broad spectrum antimicrobial agent;
  • Gels with moisture on contact providing improved patient comfort by creating a soothing, cooling effect upon application

ColActive® Plus Ag is indicated for management of full and partial thickness wounds including: diabetic ulcers (including diabetic foot ulcers), pressure ulcers, venous ulcers (including venous leg ulcers), donor and graft sites, traumatic wounds healing by secondary intention, dehisced surgical wounds, first and second degree burns.

Chronic Wound Treatment top

Chronic wounds or wounds that won’t heal occur for a variety of reasons, but the vast majority of chronic wounds can be broken down into three categories: Pressure Ulcers, Diabetic Ulcers / Diabetic Foot Ulcers and Venous Leg Ulcers / Venous Ulcers.

ColActive® Plus Ag can help to restart the healing process in chronic wounds and has been shown to be an extremely effective dressing in chronic wound conditions. Please read on for specific chronic wound conditions.

Diabetic Foot Ulcer Treatment top

Diabetics are more likely to get ulcers, particularly on their feet, for two reasons: Diabetics may have reduced sensation in the feet and therefore may not recognize the problem early on (neurologic causes). Diabetics can also have narrowing of the arteries to the feet resulting in poor blood flow (vascular causes). Foot ulcers are prone to infection and must be dealt with as soon as detected.

Because of the complications often presented by diabetic patients, advance wound care management is often necessary. ColActive® Plus and ColActive® Plus Ag represents a combination of features and benefits to deal with the issues surrounding diabetic foot ulcers not found in similar advanced dressings. ColActive® Plus and ColActive® Plus Ag are designed to create an optimal environment for wound healing by targeting and deactivating the enzymes that contribute to the chronicity of a stalled wound, managing the moisture content, providing bio-burden control (ColActive® Plus Ag) and transforming into a soft gel.

Ask your doctor about how ColActive® Plus can help heal diabetic ulcers and get more information on how to order.

Pressure Ulcer Treatment top

A pressure ulcer is an area of skin that breaks down when something keeps rubbing or pressing against the skin. Over time, the area of skin progresses from being sore and red, to a blister, and then to an open sore. Pressure ulcers may advance to deep wounds that can affect tissue, muscle and bone with real risk of infection.

Pressure ulcer wounds can be difficult to manage because of ongoing issues with irritation of the wound, low blood flow, fragile skin and other causes such as insufficient nutrition.

ColActive® Plus and ColActive® Plus Ag represents a combination of features and benefits to deal with the issues surrounding pressure ulcers not found in similar advanced dressings.

Ask your doctor about how ColActive® Plus can help heal pressure ulcers and get more information on how to order.

Venous Leg Ulcer Treatment top

Venous ulcers are thought to occur due to improper functioning of venous valves, usually in the legs. A large number of chronic wounds can be classified as venous ulcers. Venous ulcers typically appear in older people, more often women either on the leg or foot. Venous ulcers are characterized as a chronic, non-healing wound on the leg or foot.

ColActive® Plus and ColActive® Plus Ag represents a combination of features and benefits to deal with the issues surrounding venous leg ulcers not found in similar advanced dressings.
