Covalon was founded by a group of entrepreneurial PhD’s from the University of Toronto who recognized an opportunity to serve the global community through the development of patented medical technology in the areas of infection control, advanced wound care and medical coatings. Covalon became a publically traded company in 2004 and successfully built partnerships with both small and large companies using a strategic business foundation based on advanced scientific and engineering know-how. Starting in 2010, Covalon added a management team with significant success in growing medical companies to help propel Covalon forward into a mature and well respected medical industry partner.

Covalon is an ISO 13485:2003 registered company made up of a team of cross disciplinary scientists and engineers who utilize an in house laboratory to carry out feasibility studies, product formulation, prototype testing, validation, regulatory clearances and manufacturing for any size of project. Where appropriate, we design a product to meet the requirements of the most beneficial billing codes.
Covalon’s award winning team works closely with multiple stakeholders within each company to develop customized products that offer strategic marketing advantages, improved clinical outcomes, and favourable pricing models.
Major medical device manufacturers and distributors have contracted with us to develop and commercialize proprietary technologies in the areas of advanced wound care, urology, cardiology, vascular access, orthopaedics and surgery. Our partners include the top medical device companies, leaders in orthopaedic implants, large public and private medical device distributors, world leaders in wound care, niche specialty medical device companies and major contract manufacturers of medical devices.
We deal with highly sensitive and competitive information when working with partners and are serious about confidentiality. Many of our relationships are confidential & prevent us from disclosing details about our customer base, projects & accomplishments.

In 2011, Covalon expanded its sales, business development and marketing initiatives with the addition of experienced medical industry sales, business development and marketing staff. Their focus is on developing new business opportunities for the Company's core wound care products and medical coating services, however, the team is also working on the introduction of promising new technologies and formulations for Covalon's existing channels and direct to consumers.
