Human Resource Business Partner

The Human Resource Business Partner is responsible for supporting Covalon Technologies U.S.A. operations in the coordination, implementation and the maintenance of policies, programs, and procedures covering the following areas: staffing, employee relations, employee orientation, compensation and benefits, health and safety, and training and development.



General HR Services

  • Ensure that the due diligence requirements of employment related to federal and state laws and regulations are met.

  • Monitor and analyze legal trends and emerging HR trends; reporting on such trends and making recommendations.

  • Provide appropriate level of HR support to management staff as needed, including data reporting and analysis.

  • Administer all aspects of employee attendance, including tracking, reconciliation, and report generation.

  • Implement job evaluation strategies and provides job evaluation support.

  • Assist with preparation of the budget for human resources operations.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Ensure the accurate and timely administration of all corporate compensation and benefits plans.

  • Prepare all necessary paperwork, for co-ordination with payroll, in all areas of corporate activity as it relates to the human resources.

  • Resolve any problems or issues accurately and in a timely manner utilizing appropriate resources.

  • Coordinate annual performance evaluation process and resultant salary adjustment exercise.

  • Conduct wage and salary surveys within labor market to determine competitive rates.


  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships with hiring managers; understanding the needs of the hiring managers and providing advice on staffing solutions.

  • Screen candidates against open positions, qualifying based on skills, knowledge and experience.

  • Source new agency relationships and negotiating agency agreements.

  • Work with agencies as necessary to facilitate recruiting process.

  • Verify incoming resumes, logs, prescreens and forwards to hiring managers as necessary.

  • Provide recruitment coaching to hiring managers on an on-going basis.

  • Interview candidates and facilitate the hiring decision by providing feedback and guidance to hiring managers.

  • Prepare and negotiate job offers to candidates.

Orientation Program

  • Prepare and continually update all employee new hire/orientation packages.

  • Plan and coordinate new employee orientations.

  • Continuously monitor the program and recommends changes/improvements that would enhance the program.

Training (external and internal):

  • Coordinate, update and maintain training materials used in the delivery of in-house programs.

  • Serve as liaison between corporate staff, site staff and external consultants.

  • Maintain staff training records in coordination with FDA and ISO requirements.

  • Health & Safety.

  • Oversee and coordinate all health and safety requirements and compliance, including that of the health and safety committee, providing safety training and preparing reports as necessary.

Employee Relations

  • Counsel employees and other managers on various employee relation issues, including performance management.

  • Coach and facilitate problem solving for employees and managers.

  • Prepare employee separation notices and related documentation, and conduct exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline.

  • Training in human resource management with a relevant HR designation.

  • Five or more years of progressively more responsible related work experience.

  • Excellent priority-setting and organization skills.

  • Ability to handle tasks concurrently rather than sequentially.

  • Behavioural interviewing techniques.

  • Strong communication skills, oral and written.

  • Strong negotiation skills.

  • Ability to learn quickly and work independently.

  • Strong PC skills including MS Office.

  • Solid knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.

  • Strong coaching ability related to general management philosophies.

  • Team player.

  • Ability to relate interpersonally with all levels of the organization.

  • High energy level.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to show initiative and assertiveness.
